To celebrate the occasion, the Gilbert High School Marching Band has made an open invitation to any and all Gilbert alumni band members to join the group on the football field to honor the occasion.
Current and former band members will join together to play ‘The Beatles in Revue’, a collection of popular Beatles songs including: “Day Tripper”, “A Hard Day’s Night”, “Eleanor Rigby”, “Hey Jude”, “Yellow Submarine”, “Can’t Buy Me Love”, and “She Loves You”.
Gilbert High School’s Band Director Terry Soltesz, and Assistant Band Director and Majorette instructor, Becky Farmer, have already began preparing their students for the upcoming school year with daily practice sessions lasting until Aug. 18.
“The GHS Band is looking forward to an exciting and busy year and would like to thank our administration Mr. Daniel Dean, Mr. Rob Bobbera, Mr. Randy Keathley, and Mr. Hank Star for all they do to help make music in our schools possible and for their continued support,” said Soltesz.
Soltesz credits Gilbert’s principal, Daniel Dean, on developing the idea for the event.
The Gilbert High School Band Boosters will be selling purple GHS alumni at all football games and sporting events this year. The shirts, printed by Jamoke Printing of Gilbert, were designed by Gilbert student Brittany Colegrove and space has been left of the shirts for personalization.
Any former Gilbert band members that would like to participate should contact Terry Soltesz by phone at (304) 664-8349 (if there is no answer leave a message with your contact information) or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Soltesz asks interested parties contact him as soon as possible so rehearsal dates can be set.
