GILBERT – On Friday afternoon, a 2-year-old boy was found dead at his home in Gilbert.
Sgt. R.L. Frye of the West Virginia State Police said that 26-year-old Cristy Lynn Chafin and 43-year-old James Edward Simpson, both of Gilbert, have been charged with child neglect resulting in death.
“More charges may be incoming depending on the results of the autopsy,” Frye said.
Both Chafin and Simpson are being held at Southwestern Regional Jail, in Holden. Bonds are set at $500,000 cash.
The child’s name has not been released by the authorities.
The case is still under investigation.
