GOODY, Ky. – Logan edged by home-standing Belfry 3-1 in baseball action Monday night at Massey Energy Field at Goody, Ky.
Joey Duty had an RBI sacrifice fly and a double for Belfry’s. The Pirates got their only run when Keagan Fields walked, then went to second base on a wild pitch. Sean Hurley’s single sent Fields to third base and scored on the sac fly.
Tyler Williams took the loss on the mound for Belfry. Belfry is now 9-5 on the season. Howie Dotson, Jared Masters and Williams also banged out a hit for the Pirates.
Zack Minnick was the winning pitcher for Logan, while Justin Oney got the save pitching in the 7th inning. Matt Greene was 3-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs for Logan, while Alex Mareske had a pair of hits. Trent Dalton had an RBI for the Wildcats.

JOHNS CREEK, Ky. – Mingo Central got back on the winning track with a 10-8 over Pike County Central at Johns Creek Monday evening. The Miners are now 7-6 on the season.
Nick Lee, Josh May, Jacob Staton and Alex Lee all smacked three hits for the Miners, while Austin Reed, John May and Gabriel Vinson each had a pair of this. Josh May had a double and three RBIs, while his brother John May had two RBIs. Alex Lee had a double, while Staton had two RBIs.
Joe May was the winning pitcher, allowing eight runs, seven hits, walking three and striking out four. Garth Simpkins pitched scoreless two innings in relief. The losing pitcher was Mac Justice, who helped his own cause with a pair of hits. Blake Clark went a perfect 5-for-5 for the Hawks.
“It was nice to pick up a win against a good team that beat us earlier in the year,” Miners head coach Walt Cline said. “Joe May pitched five strong innings and Garth Simpkins came on in the 6th inning to throw two scoreless innings. I have waited to see this type of pitching effort out of Joe and Garth and they were very impressive. “
“We have to have more pitching and I hope this was a sign of things to come. As a group these guys got down 4-1 and keep hitting the ball and making plays to keep us close enough to have a two big innings in the 5th and 6th,” Cline added. “It was good to get back on track after three tough games this weekend. I believe the Man game was such an intense game that it carried over and got these guys motivated to believe they can play with anyone.”

MADISON – Tug Valley was shutout Monday evening at Scott 7-0.
Chuckie White took the loss on the mound for the Panthers. Jordon Mounts and White each had two hits to lead TVHS. David Runyon and Zack Baize each banged out a hit for head coach Jeff Varney.
Baize and Mounts also saw duty on the mound in relief for the Panthers. The Panthers only trailed 3-0, but gave up four runs in the bottom of the 6th inning.
A. Miller was the winning pitcher for the Skyhawks.

BELFRY 12, BETSY LAYNE 1
GOODY, Ky. – Belfry’s Lady Pirates rolled to a 12-1 mercy rule victory over visiting Betsy Layne on Monday evening.
Coach Ryan Chapman’s squad improved to 10-4 with the victory.
Brooke Williamson was once again the winning pitcher. No other details were available.
