Tug Valley wins first game

NAUGATUCK – The Tug Valley Panthers won their first baseball game in the past two seasons with a convincing 11-1 victory over Teays Valley Christian Saturday at the Naugatuck field.

Josh Spry, Jordan Mounts, Gabriel Varney and Trevin Horn each had a pair of hits for the Panthers. Kevin Brown had a hit with three RBIs, while Alan Canterbury and Jordan Kiser also banged out base hits.

Zack Baize picked up the win on the mound for Tug Valley. He had nine strikeouts, only gave up three hits and did not walk a batter.

Z. Scantlin was the losing pitcher for Teays Valley.

Tug Valley is scheduled to travel to Van today and Jenkins, Ky. on Wednesday.

Cross Lanes outscores Tug Valley

CROSS LANES – The Tug Valley Panthers finally scored enough runs to win, however it was the defense and pitching that let them down Friday night.

Cross Lanes Christian scored six runs in the bottom of the 6th inning to take a 15-11 lead and held on for the win.

For Tug Valley Chuckie White went 4-for-4 with an RBI to lead the hit parade. Cody McCloud had three hits and scored three runs, while Jordon Mounts had two hits and a trio of RBIs. David Runyon had a pair of hits including a triple and scored twice. Zack Baize had a hit and knocked in three runs for coach Jeff Varney’s squad.

Also getting hits for the Panthers was Tyler Lucas, Trevin Horn and Aaron Muncy.

Horn, Kevin Brown, Mounts and Gabe Varney all saw action on the mound for the Panthers. Tug Valley committed six errors, which helped Cross Lanes score several unearned runs.

M. DeBoard was the winning pitcher for CLC.
