The Mingo Central Lady Miners tennis team saved their best for last as they won their first team match of the season and the first-ever for school.

Sophomores Emily Hatfield and Taylor Blevins overpowered the Mt. View Lady Golden Knights, 8-1 and 8-0 respectfully in their singles matches.

Seniors Sara Fields and Jessica Hall fought back and won an exciting 9-7 doubles match, while senior Brittany Evans and Blevins handled the Lady Golden Knights 8-3.

Evans responded, “Coach, no tears”, as the senior usually tears up after a loss.

“I am very proud of the girls for their character on the courts tonight; it was difficult, yet they endured the Mingo Central way,” head coach Julius Hatcher said.

The boys ran their record to an impressive 7-3 for the season, winning all matches with love except one. Seniors Jason May and Zak Roberts winning 8-0 and sophomores Kyle Surber and Julius A. Hatcher, IV won 8-0 all in singles matches. May and Hatcher won their doubles match 8-0, while Roberts and Surber won 8-1.

This was Mingo Central’s last regular season match. Mingo Central will be in tourney play next week.
