Burch was led by Ryan Hatfield with 23 points, while Corey Cook scored 14 points, gave eight assists and got seven steals. Jacob Stratton led the Bulldogs on the boards with 17 rebounds. He also scored eight points and got four steals.
Troy Starr poured in 10 points, got five steals and handed off three assists. Zach Runyon added six points. Dave Hatfield scored four points and grabbed two rebounds. Dave Hatfields time was limited due to early foul trouble. Cody Williamson scored three points and grabbed six rebounds. Gabriel Vinson netted three points and grabbed four boards.
Burch led 20-9 at the end of the first quarter and 32-17 at the half. The Bulldogs outscored the Cubs 20-16 in the third quarter and 19-9 in the fourth to get the 29-point victory.
“Iaeger isnt a bad team,” Burch Coach Kevin Hatfield said. “We didnt shoot real well from the field, but we got 38 rebounds and 21 of those were offensive boards. And we had a ton of steals. We ran the ball well, rebounded well and played hard.”
Coach Hatfield said the Bulldogs had 13 fouls called against them in the first quarter alone and that forced them to play with only two starters on the floor. Dave Hatfield, he said, saw only about a quarter of playing time due to his foul problems.
“Everyone who got in the game played well,” Coach Hatfield said.
The Bulldogs (1-0) return to action at home Saturday night against Tolsia at 7:30 p.m.
