Teacher, pastor lands in jail on sex charge

The Mingo County Sheriffs arrested a teacher and pastor for sexual abuse on Friday.

Johnny Ray Dempsey, was arrested for inappropriate contact with a 14-year-old juvenile daughter in June 2009.

Dempsey was arrested on Friday, by Sgt. Joe Smith with the Mingo County Sheriffs Department. He was charged with sexual abuse by a parent and incest.

At the time of the crime, Dempsey was a teacher at Kermit K- and Tug Valley High School and a the pastor of Grace Truth Bible Center, located at Boy Scout Hollow.

Dempsey was arraigned in Mingo County Magistrate Court and received a bond of $100,000 cash only bond. Dempsey will appear in Magistrate Court for his preliminary trial on Wednesday.
